Kedarnath & Badrinath: A Complete Char Dham Yatra Guide

The Char Dham Yatra is one of the most sacred pilgrimages in Hinduism, taking devotees through four holy shrines in the Indian Himalayas.

The Four Dhams

1. Yamunotri (3,293m) The source of the River Yamuna. Trek 6 km from Janki Chatti through stunning mountain scenery. Hot water springs at Surya Kund.

2. Gangotri (3,100m) The origin of the River Ganges. The temple sits where King Bhagirath meditated. Visit the Gaumukh glacier (18 km trek).

3. Kedarnath (3,583m) One of the 12 Jyotirlingas, accessible via a 16 km trek or helicopter. The temple survived the devastating 2013 floods — a miracle that strengthened faith.

4. Badrinath (3,133m) Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, set between the Nar and Narayan mountain ranges. The temple opens May-November only.
